How can someone hate to be right? Don’t we always want to be right? Well not always. Let me give you an example.
Say there’s a 24 hour flu’ going around. You wake up one morning feeling a little off and you know that you’ve caught that bug, still, you deny it because you figure it if you ignore the symtoms they’ll go away. Sure enough, by that afternoon you’re hurling your guts up in the toilet, who in your delirium you’ve fondly named “Ralph”. In a moment of clarity you wish that you weren’t right.
That’s how I felt last night when the bottom three were Haley, Chris and Phil. Sanjaya wasn’t even in the bottom three! First came disbelief. Then anger. Then extreme puke-your-guts-up nausea. And sadly, I was right. Haley left. Haley I want you to know how unfair it was and you were voted off not because you can’t sing, but because this isn’t really a singing contest anymore. Here are my reasons why you didn’t make it:
1) Starry eyed pre-teens jammed the lines voting for Sanjaya who could probably howl like a coon dog and still get enough votes to stay on… hey wait… he does howl like a coon dog…. no offense to coon dogs. At least coon dogs are suppose to sound like a coon dog.
2) Howard Stern’s nefarious plot to encourage people to vote for Sanjaya to screw Fox network and its popular show is actually working. There was something on NPR about this very thing this morning.
3) Our world is ruled by preteens and people with no taste. The latter might be true considering the popularity of “Are you Smarter Than a 5th Grader”. I mean, come on. Whether it’s true or not, would you really want to go on national TV in front of millions to answer that question?
Anyway, what’s done is done, and another contestant with loads more talent than Sanjaya is voted off.
Once again, I hate to be right about this, but I think the next one to go will be Phil Stacey.
I would like to suggest to Sanjaya that you step down, yes, voluntarily take yourself OUT of the competition. If Howard Stern’s “Fanjayas” are really prevailing, is that how you want to keep winning? By garnering votes not because of talent but because of a lack of talent and people trying to screw Fox Network? It’s up to you, dude.
